- completely annexed province of Avanti & also shifted capital of Magadha to Vaishali
- followed by Kalashok or Kakvarnin
- Kalashok convened the second Buddhist council in 383BC at Vaishali which led to division in Buddhism
- later assassinated by Mahapadma Nanda who believed Shishunag to be illegitimate son of Kalashok
