The first people who entered and inhabited Americas during the final glacial episodes of late Pleistocene period.
The city plans emerged in 1905, with Las Vegas being incorporated in 1911. In 1931, Nevada legalized casino gambling and reduced residency requirement for divorce to 6 weeks. This was a major shift for the city in its journey to becoming the entertainment hub.
Following WWII, lavishly decorated hotels, gambling casinos etc became synonymous with Las Vegas.

Ripples in India
- increasing focus on night time economy, which often is largely pushed forward by establishments selling/serving alcohol and/or complementary adult entertainment in bars
- eg upcoming IT Park in North West Delhi
- MG Road, Gurugram
- Gujarat despite being a dry state, has recently allowed alcohol consumption in GIFT City.
- serves as a post service sector economy, since in its present form in India, it is highly correlated to people in service sector
- Casinos & gambling legal in Goa, Daman, Sikkim (State subject)
- 2013: 135Cr INR revenue to state from gambling
Issues
- in conflict with socially accepted values
- MG Road by 2018 had become infamous for crimes, including against women
- where the feminists at?
- crazy disrespect to DPSP 47 πΊπΎ
- economy should be grown via more dignified means
- eg. bar dancers often enter the job not because of personal will, but rather lack of choice. Also leads to exploitation
