Conditions for Delta formation
- River to have:
- ⬆️ volume of sediments at the mouth of river
- long length r
- ⬆️ Erosion and Weathering ➡️ upper & middle course
- no. of tributaries ⬆️
- no Faulting
- less waves and tides
- wide continental shelf
- gentle slope at the mouth of river
- speed at the mouth ➡️ less
- depth of water at the shelf should be shallow
Caution
- All above mentioned points to be satisfied
- then only delta formation
- o/w NO delta
