- MT argued IoA was only for 3 subjects at present also w/ Prince
- Britain wouldn’t be able to help after lapse of paramountcy
- Patel tried to persuade to sign IoA & MA (merger agreement)
- if princes didn’t agree, then gave option to accede only in 3 subjects via IoA i.e. promised autonomy or special status
- if still didn’t agree, then gave implied threat of anarchy
